Beans · Privacy policy

Last updated: 12 September 2026

Beans reads the payment alerts your own banking apps post to your phone, and turns them into a spending overview. Everything happens on the device. The app declares no internet permission, so nothing it reads can leave your phone.

What the app reads

What the app sends

Nothing, and it cannot. Beans does not declare the android.permission.INTERNET permission. Android will refuse any network connection the app might attempt. You can verify this yourself: open Android settings, find Beans, look at its permissions. There is no account, no sign-up, no server, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party software development kit that collects anything.

One thing you can send, on purpose. The reading journal has a Share button, which hands its text to whichever app you pick through the standard Android share sheet, so that you can send a bug report. Beans never does this by itself and never chooses the destination.

Your bank credentials

Beans never asks for them and has no use for them. It does not connect to your bank. It only reads messages your bank has already sent to your own phone.

Storage and deletion

Transactions, categories, budgets and the reading journal are stored in the app's private storage. Erase everything, in the settings, removes the lot in one go, and uninstalling Beans deletes it too. Nothing is backed up to any cloud: the app opts out of both Android cloud backup and device to device transfer.

Permissions in detail

Children

Beans is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone.
